Mansfield University is proud to be sponsoring the Phil Mattson Vocal Jazz Workshop this summer. The workshop, for choral directors, high school and college students and professional singers will focus on rehearsal and performance of vocal jazz literature. Participants will experience singing and rehearsing a vocal jazz ensemble, performing in a nightly solo recital, peruse new vocal jazz literature, and particiapte in jazz improvisation, jazz theory, history and arranging seminars. Housing is available on campus or at several local motels.This is a great opportunity for the choral educator to learn more about the art of vocal jazz.

Orff Level I Certification Workshop
July 27 - August 7, 2009
The two-week experiential course is designed to help educators develop an understanding of the teaching and learning processes used in the Orff Schulwerk approach to music education.Participants will experience music learning from the perspective of children through movement, recorder playing, improvisation, singing, and playing Orff instruments.The conceptual and pedagogical basis of the Orff Schulwerk approach will also be discussed and experienced as part of the daily schedule.
